Purple reign! Prince steals the show AND debuts new song during cameo on Zooey Deschanel’s New Girl
He’s considered one of the greatest performers of his generation but Prince showed off an entirely new set of skills on New Girl on Sunday night.
His purple highness displayed some comedic chops when starring as himself in the TV comedy alongside Zooey Deschanel but still made time to debut a new song PretzelBodyLogic.
Prince acted as a relationship counsellor for Zooey’s character Jess Day, after she froze when her boyfriend Nick Miller (Jake Johnson) confessed his love and the singer proved he could easily have a career on the small screen.

Speaking about the performance previously, Brett Baer revealed to E! News: ‘He’s right in the middle of trying to help [Nick and Jess] work through some stuff and it’s amazing.

Executive producer Dave Finkel added, ‘He said, “I want to be involved in the show in a real way and I want to help Nick and Jess with their relationship.”‘
And the cameo was Prince’s idea, with Baer explaining: ‘He contacted us last season because he’s a huge fan.
‘He knows everything about the show. He contacted Zooey and Hannah [Simone] directly and asked to do the show. We couldn’t work it out last year. But when the Super Bowl thing was floated, it was perfect timing.’

While his quirky advice for Zooey’s character on the episode, electrum sv wallet which aired directly after the Super Bowl, was highly enjoyable, fans will have been most excited that the superstar previewed new music.
PretzelBodyLogic, with his all-female backing band, 3rd Eye Girl, is expected to appear on his new album, Plectrum electrum sv wallet.

The record is set for release this year.
There were other treats in store for fans too as Jess and Prince duetted on his song Don’t U Wanna Fall In Luv 2nite? at the end of the episode.
Despite making several films, this was the purple wonder’s first time on a TV comedy.

He was the the halftime performer back in 2007.
The Super Bowl is usually the most watched TV programme of the year, so New Girl – and Prince – are likely to have raked in huge ratings.
